For me, art is a very personal experience. I create because I feel compelled. There is no choice. It is how I process my emotions, think through current events, and determine how to focus my energies. I have created art for most of my life, but have only recently turned from a more inward practice to one that is shared.
I have lived in Jacksonville, FL for more than half my life and have come to call it home. I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Art History focused in early Christian art and medieval art and architecture, with a minor is studio art where I explored drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and photography while being immersed in their historical practice. I continue to work in these media and others. I returned to school in 2010 to pursue a Masters of Public Administration, focused in nonprofit management, graduating in 2014. I have dedicated myself to local nonprofit organization for more than 15 years, because I believe that serving one’s community has endless value and that you should do what you can to leave the world a better place than you found it.
My work is guided by my background in art history, a passion for social justice, and direct experience as a woman in modern American society. Art is a way to tell a story, and in both my work and my art, storytelling is a vital element.
